With decades of experience working in the rail industry and completing work to Network Rail standards, we understand the extensive requirements involved in your work. From surface preparation to treatment to inspection, we provide extensive support with all work completed to the highest of standards – our own.
At SCI, we use abrasive blasting as one of our main surface preparation techniques in the rail industry to remove corrosion from metals or old paint from brickwork in tunnels, train stations, and more.
Our expert blasters are fully qualified to safely carry out the technique to the highest of standards, so you know that your assets are in safe hands with us. We are also capable of undertaking delicate abrasive blasting, suitable for older buildings with more fragile substrates.
We use High and Ultra-High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ and UHPWJ) as a surface preparation technique in the rail industry where waste from abrasive blasting can harm the surroundings, such as near waterways, or where the substrate is more fragile and susceptible to damage. Our team is highly skilled at carrying out this process with precision and care.
From grinding and sanding to scraping and wire brushing, at SCI, we use a variety of tools to remove irregularities, old coatings, loose materials, and rust from surfaces in the rail industry, creating a surface ready for coating.
Our expert team can assess the substrate and contaminants and advise on which technique is best for your asset.
Intumescent coatings are a huge part of what we do at SCI, as this passive fireproofing system is proven to increase how long it takes for your building’s structural components to fail, improving the safety of those in the building and mitigating damage.
All of our intumescent coating projects are inspected by Level 2 SSPC Fireproof Inspectors prior to sign-off to ensure a high standard of quality and safety.
Our coating inspection & surveying services allow us to work closely with you, establishing the current condition of your assets and the extent of potential remedial works.
We also offer support in the development of inspection test plans (ITP), and provide third party inspections.
Our team includes:
Level 3 ICORR Paint Inspectors
Level 2 SSPC Fireproof Inspectors
Level 2 ICORR Thermal Metal Spray Inspectors
Level 2 TTP Coatings Surveyors
