Resin injection in concrete

Resin Injections

Resin injections provide a solution for any problems involving damp, water-leaking cracks and structural cracks. To ensure you are always clear on scope, we will always advise you on the best method to use for damp-related issues and water damage prior to starting work.

How does a resin injection work?

Injection

We’ll first drill access holes into the structure to provide various entry points for the resin injection, which we then pump under pressure using a specialised injection system. During this process, we will monitor the flow of resin, adjusting the pressure and volume as needed to ensure proper distribution.

Curing

After the resin has been injected, it is left to cure and harden. The curing time varies depending on the type of resin and the environmental conditions, but typically ranges from a few hours to several days. During this time, the resin will chemically react, forming a strong, durable bond with the substrate.

Finish

Once the resin has cured, we will trim and remove any excess before finishing the surface to restore its appearance and further increase its durability. This may include the application of another protective coating, such as an intumescent coating for passive fire protection or an airtight coating.

What are resin injections made from?

The resin material is typically a two-part mixture that is combined at the injection nozzle or within the access hole just before the injection. Depending on the application, we can use polyurethane, acrylic and epoxy resin injections to mitigate water seepage and provide structural repairs.

Common Applications

Resin injections are used to fill cracks and cavities in structures such as:

  • Retaining walls
  • Abutments
  • Tunnels
  • Underground pipes
  • Bridges
  • Buildings
  • Dams
  • Brick walls
  • Stone facades
